Breast uplift or mastopexy is a procedure designed to raise and reshape sagging breasts. This procedure is usually performed to tighten loose, sagging breasts having lost volume and elasticity following childbirth or after significant weight loss.
During the procedure, Dr. Apesos will make incisions following the natural contour of the breast. The procedure involves removing a ring of tissue around the nipple. In cases of more sagging, he additionally removes a “keyhole-shaped” pattern of skin below the nipple to also eliminate the extra skin tissue from the lower section of the breast. The breast, nipple, and areola are moved to a higher pre-selected position to reshape the breast. Hidden sutures beneath the skin will close the incisions.
Combinations of both breast lifting procedures with breast implants are often necessary to obtain the best final shape. Dr. Apesos routinely performs both a lift of the breast tissue and placement of submuscular implants to shape the breasts in a single procedure. Dr. Apesos will keep the scar length to a minimum.
