A neck lift is a procedure that improves the appearance of the neck, which over time has developed sagging, loose skin. It is usually used in conjunction with a facelift. In some cases, most often in men, the looseness of the skin is severe enough to warrant direct skin removal from the underside of the neck. Liposuction can also be performed at the same time to decrease the thickness of neck fat. Neck muscles may be tightened to enhance the contour.
A smooth, taut neck helps frame the jaw and chin. It provides a natural transition between face and chest. Loose and wrinkled skin can detract from overall appearance, even when face and chest are otherwise youthful and fit.
Lose the “wattle”
Dr. Apesos has the training and experience to recommend the best type of surgery to remove the “turkey wattle” and help you appear more youthful and fit.
in preparing for the procedure, Dr. Apesos will analyze the skin, muscle and fat tissues in your neck. Based on your individual profile, he will recommend a procedure or combination of procedures to give you your best result. He will then identify where to make incisions, often behind the ear or under the chin to minimize visible scarring.
This outpatient procedure usually takes about one to two hours, and you will be able to recuperate at home. Although you may feel better within a day, strenuous activities should be avoided for about three weeks.
Because a neck lift is a limited procedure, it is not recommended if you have loose, sagging skin throughout your facial area. Except where specifically indicated as a stand-alone procedure, facelift is the best option for facial rejuvenation of the neck and face.
